  • The Hungry Bin is a clean, simple and easy way to dispose of organic waste using compost worms. Food scraps are placed on top of the bin where the compost worms get to work converting your waste into compost. The worm castings are pushed down through the bin & compressed by the weight of the fresh castings above them. The castings are retained in the lower part of the bin designed for easy removal. The liquid drains down through the bin and passes into a drip tray. Both the liquid & worm castings nutrient-rich,
high-quality fertilizers than can be safely used in your garden.

  • Compost friendly items include: fruit & vegetable scraps, cooked foods, tea leaves, coffee grounds, crushed eggshells, hair, vacuum cleaner dust, empty toilet paper rolls, paper lunch wrap, egg cartons, shredded newspaper, cardboard, lawn clippings, weeds, dirt, leaves, & sawdust.

Non-compostable items include: citrus, acidic fruit skins, spicy foods, onions, garlic, leeks, bread, pasta, processed wheat, shiny paper, fats, oils, & capsicums.

  • Composting is for everyone! Not only is it beneficial for your household, it also directly impacts the planet by contributing to healthier soil & keep unnecessary items out of the landfill. Plus, its sincerely easy. Start small and give yourself time to become fully efficient at it.

  • Starting with the minimum of 2,000 worms, Hungry Bin can take 6 months to become running at its maximum optimization. Worms can eat their body weight in food each day – so you must feed the same volume of food as there are worms in order to not overfeed them. (Overfeeding worms will lead to rotting food which will lead to unwanted visitors). However, if you slowly increase the amount you feed the worms the population will multiply. A fully functioning bin will hold about 6.5 lbs of worms.

  • Hungry Bin is a game changer in the world of vermicomposting for several reasons. It has a unique, continuous flow design that makes for easy compost collection. It has a high processing capacity (up to 4.5 lbs of waste per day). It is an easy to use and low maintenance system that requires minimal effort. It is durable and pest-resistant. Hungry Bin is also ideal for various settings, as it can be placed in the backyard, garage, covered porch – really anywhere that you see fit!

  • For our US customers, we recommend
using Uncle Jim’s Worm Farm for consistent quality and guaranteed
    “alive” delivery.

For our NZ customers, we recommend
using Worms R Us or Wormworx.

  • We recommend starting with a minimum of 2,000 compost worms.

Maximum capacity is 10,000 when your Hungry Bin is fully up and running. Worms will reproduce until they hit max capacity and then will naturally manage the numbers in your bin.

  • Once fully up and running, Hungry Bin can handle 4.5 lbs of organic waste per day! The average family generates between 12-18 pounds a week.
